In-Hand or at Range?
Choose the URH-2 for close-range scans when the animal is already in hand. Choose the URH-300HP when you need 6–8" of range for larger animals or hard-to-reach implant sites.

FDX-B or HDX?
The URH-2 reads FDX-B and supports FDX-A tags. The URH-300HP reads both FDX-B and HDX for fieldwork that requires both formats.

Scanning in or Near Water?
Pair the URH-300HP with the URH-PLEX telescoping antenna. Put the antenna in the water while the reader stays dry on the bank or in the boat for submerged and out-of-reach scans.

How Many Tags per Session?
Use a single-shot needle for low-volume work or smaller tags. For repeated 2.1 × 13 mm implants, the UMTI-10 holds up to 10 tags, so you can implant several animals before reloading.

What does the URH-PLEX antenna add?
The URH-PLEX adds underwater and out-of-reach scanning to the URH-300HP. Put the antenna in the water while the reader stays on the bank or boat.

Will these tags read on agency or PTAGIS-style arrays and other vendors' ISO readers?
Yes. UID FDX-B tags operate at 134.2 kHz and conform to ISO 11784/11785, so compatible agency arrays and other ISO-compliant FDX-B readers can read them. The URH-300HP also reads compatible ISO tags from other manufacturers.

Which tag sizes does the UMTI-10 handle?
The UMTI-10 multi-injector handles only 2.1 × 13 mm FDX-B tags; it does not support 1.4 × 8.5 mm small-species tags. For the smaller size, use a single-shot needle instead.

How many tags before I reload?
Ten. Each UMTI-CAR cartridge holds up to 10 tags, and the UMTI-10 advances one tag per implant. Empty cartridges are refillable, so you can prepare spares before a field session.

How should the needles be sterilized?
The replacement needles ship non-sterile. Sterilize and replace them according to your approved IACUC, permit, or study protocol. See PIT tags for the tags these tools implant.
