Description
Remote and Continuous Monitoring of Rodent Temperature and Activity
A comprehensive understanding of mouse phenotypes requires continuous behavioral monitoring in an undisturbed environment over extended periods. In addition to activity tracking, body temperature is a critical physiological parameter for evaluation. Effective behavioral phenotyping depends on uninterrupted observation within the animal’s natural home-cage setting.
While video-based systems are commonly used for remote monitoring, they pose significant challenges. These systems are costly to implement, demand extensive time and labor for video analysis, and require dedicated research staff. Additionally, accurately tracking animals in group housing or during their peak activity—typically at night—can be particularly challenging.
UID offers an advanced RFID system for real-time monitoring of animal location, movement, and temperature within a home-cage environment, even for multiple animals per cage. This system continuously records location and temperature data, enabling detailed behavioral analysis.
Does the animal huddle with the group? Does it spend more time under the feeder? Is its temperature increasing or decreasing? With the UID Mouse Matrix system, these questions can now be answered.
Create Your Own Smart Cage for Undisturbed Monitoring of Home-cage Activity
Simply implant the UID Temperature or standard ID microchip into the animals and return them to their cage. Then, place the UID Mouse Matrix reader plate beneath the cage for continuous, 24/7 monitoring of location, movement, and temperature—without disturbing the animals.
The UID Mouse Matrix reader plate is adaptable to any cage, instantly transforming it into a Smart Cage for real-time activity tracking. Additionally, we partner with leading caging manufacturers to develop fully integrated Rodent Smart Cages equipped with UID’s RFID tracking technology, enabling seamless and advanced monitoring.
