The UID implantable, programmable transponder (UC-2112) is suitable for implantation in rats and larger laboratory animals. The microchip dimensions are 2.1mm in diameter and 12mm in length, which is the most common size for use in almost all laboratory animals. Each microchip is supplied in an individual, sterilized cannula for use with a wide range of UID injectors. Each transponder is supplied with a unique, non-repeating, alpha-numeric identification code that can be programmed using the UPS-60 Chip Provisioning Station. Programming of the transponder can be performed in the cannula prior to implantation, or after implantation while in the animal. The UID programmable transponders are fail-proof and do not lose their programmed information, unlike those of other microchip providers.
